What is Aklief cream and what is it used for?
Trifarotene, the active ingredient in Aklief, is a fourth-generation retinoid approved by the FDA for the treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 9 years of age and older. retinoids (e.g. tretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene and triparothene) is a topical skin medication widely used to manage skin disorders, and over time It has evolved into the 4th generation and treatment efficacy has increased.
Trifarotene cream (commercially known as Aklief cream) is a relatively new prescription-strength topical medication for treating acne on the face, shoulders, chest, and back.
How does Aklief cream work?
Trifarotene cream targets the gamma receptors for retinoic acid because they are primarily expressed in the skin. Trifarotene cream targets these specific receptors selectively. It has therapeutic effects on the skin, including reducing inflammation and preventing the formation of acne lesions.
Trifarotene’s high specificity in targeting the gamma receptors of retinoic acid reduces systemic absorption and potential side effects. This basically means that triparotine cream is better tolerated and has fewer side effects than most other retinoids.
Preclinical studies have shown that Aklief cream is more effective at lower concentrations than other retinoids, such as tazarotene and tretinoin, and has a better anti-pigmentation effect than adapalene.
Aklief cream has many advantages as it is a new drug on the market that has been specifically developed to be more effective and have fewer side effects than other retinoids.
