Metformin is a treatment for type 2 diabetes. Contains metformin as the active ingredient. It is a biguanide oral hypoglycemic agent. It is the same active ingredient known in Japan under brand names such as metoglucon and glycolan.

Usage
Typically, adults start with 500 mg (1 tablet) of metformin hydrochloride per day, divided into 2 to 3 doses per day and administered orally just before or after meals.
The maintenance amount is determined while observing the effect, but is usually 750 to 1,500 mg (1.5 to 3 tablets) per day.
In addition, it may be increased or decreased appropriately depending on the patient’s condition, but the maximum daily dose is up to 2,250 mg (4.5 tablets).
